Pippo, a scruffy tan and white terrier, looking at the camera
Pippo · the third dog Robinhood named

Too much.

Not too much. Exactly enough.

That’s the shelter note on a search dog. It’s also what they said about you.

$PIPPO is an independent community token. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to Robinhood Markets, Inc. Robinhood Chain is a permissionless public network; anyone can deploy on it. All trademarks belong to their owners.

3% trading tax. Two thirds of it goes to the dogs. No dividends, no holder payouts, no team cut — the remaining 1% is a CoinBarrel buyback and burn. Dev holds under 3% in one public wallet, disclosed before anyone asked, with a further portion paired into the PIPPO/CASHCAT liquidity pool. Both move as the pool is rebalanced — the live balance is on the explorer, so check it rather than trusting this line.

They have acknowledged three dogs, ever. Two became billion dollar coins.
Nobody built anything for the third one.

Only 1 in 30 makes it.

The other twenty-nine are the part nobody talks about.

01 · The cause

They said he was too much.

Every one of them is placed. A family, or another working career, for life. No dog SDF rescues is ever returned to a shelter.

The one that makes it does something no human and no machine can. The traits that got it surrendered — the obsession, the drive, the refusal to quit — are the exact traits the job requires.

Eight of them have names, handlers, and deployment records.
Here they are.

Every one was given up, surrendered, or washed out for being too much. Every one now finds people under collapsed buildings.

Search Dog Lennie with handler Alma Lowry on a rubble training pile

Lennie

Lab / German Shorthaired Pointer · Tooele City Animal Shelter, Utah

Ran loose through a neighbourhood for a week. Animal control could not catch him. He eventually decided, on his own terms, to hop in the truck.

They handed him a tennis ball at the shelter and knew instantly. Paired with Alma Lowry, San Diego Fire - told at sixteen that “girls don’t do that,” a firefighter since 1992. He escaped a wire kennel and a plastic crate in his first week home. Her son named the steel one Alcatraz.

Emmett

American Staffordshire Terrier mix · Southern Oregon Humane Society

Picked up as a stray. A pit bull mix - the breed most likely to be put down in an American shelter.

Described by trainers as brave as a lion and strong as a bear. Moved through every class in record time. After their first search together he leaned in and licked Kristine Priebe of LAFD across the face, and she hoped from then on it would be him.

Black Labrador · Dogs for Better Lives, Oregon

Raised to be a service dog alongside his littermate. Both were rejected as too energetic to assist a person.

The exact trait that disqualified him is the one the job requires. Paired with firefighter/paramedic J.P. Hilsabeck, LA County Fire. First call to duty: the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Turkey and Syria, February 2023.

Dee

Labrador Retriever · donated by her owners

“Bold and boisterous.” The elderly couple who owned her found her drive too much to live with and gave her up.

Drove cross-country from New England to California with an SDF recruiter. Paired with Captain Eric Gray, Santa Barbara County Fire - his third search dog. Missing person in Gaviota. Mudslides in San Bernardino. A building explosion in Santa Maria.

Search Dog Echo with handler Brook Rowley on rubble

Echo

Black Labrador · Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, New York

Surrendered to a Tennessee shelter for having too much energy. Shipped a thousand miles north because someone hoped he’d have better odds up there.

A shelter director spotted it and made a phone call. He was a star student. A class of fifth graders at Miller Hill Elementary chose his new name - he had been called Lolo.

Search Dog Barney with handler Lauren Canning on rubble

Barney

Black Labrador · Retrieving Freedom, Inc.

Washed out of assistance training. The notes: toy obsession and no natural off-switch.

“Loud, boisterous, wild and driven - intense in all the best ways.” Trainers said playing with him was a full-contact sport. Paired with Lauren Canning, San Francisco Fire, who brought home a new baby and a young search dog in the same year. Pre-deployed for Hurricane Milton.

Search Dog Cole, in loving memory

Cole 2012 – 2026

Black Labrador · El Dorado County Animal Services, California

Surrendered under the name Bouncer. A volunteer drove out to test him and wrote back: “he did well on all the tests and has a ton of drive… my gut feeling is to go with the dog.”

Hurricane Harvey. Hurricane Laura. The Almeda Fire. A flood in Hildale. The first FEMA search dog his fire department or his county had ever had. Roxanne Bauman had wanted a canine partner since she was fourteen. She said goodbye to him at fourteen years old.

Search Dog Keila working a rubble pile, in loving memory

Keila 2013 – 2026

Brightside Animal Shelter, Redmond, Oregon

She was not even listed for adoption. The behaviourist had pulled her from the floor because she was too driven for any normal household.

The recruiter took one look and said she’d be dynamite. Days into a two-week handler course, Keila made it crystal clear which human she wanted. Her first call was a woman with dementia, missing, found unharmed. Her name goes on the Canine Memorial Wall in Santa Paula.

The lore, for anyone who wants it

2015 The prophecy begins

2021 Doge Day Afternoon

Robinhood runs a Doge Day campaign. The company’s association with dog coins is well documented and entirely its own.

NOW $PIPPO on Robinhood Chain

Robinhood launches its own EVM chain. An independent community launches $PIPPO on it. No connection to Robinhood, and none claimed.

Not the government. Not the fire departments. It is donated, every dollar.

One last thing

Somewhere tonight there is a dog in a shelter with a note on the kennel that says too much.

In eighteen months he could be the reason a stranger’s kid comes home.
